This painting was inspired by a photo initially and then an awareness came over me that I had been here before. The ranch where I spent many good years of my life. It was that fence line, and that field, and that hillside, on a cold Texas morning.

I typically paint what I find interesting and beautiful and if my art can evoke an emotion for the someone else, then I feel even more blessed. I’ve lived in Texas all my life; from the coast, to the Hill Country, to my current residence in San Antonio. While I’ve tinkered in the visual arts since childhood, trained to be an architectural draftsman in college, I took up oil painting in earnest in 2014 during a workshop with renown sky-scape artist Phil Bob Bormann. I try to use only the highest quality materials and oil paint on quality linen canvas is my preferred medium today.
